Your Future with Metratec

Do you enjoy solving tricky problems? Are you happy when you find a way that no one has known before? Do you like to work in a team and at the same time respect others for their quirks? Then you’re a bit like us and we would like to get to know you.

Metratec develops wireless technologies that enable companies to leverage the positive effects of digitalization. Our products and solutions in the field of tracking, and identification make processes smarter and generate new insights that can make the world more efficient, easier, and more sustainable.

We would like to tackle this challenging task together with you. We attach great importance to personal freedom and a cooperative culture of collaboration. We are a young team and maintain a personal and open relationship. With around 20 employees, we work directly on the Elbe in the “Wissenschaftshafen” within walking distance of the University of Magdeburg and close to the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg, as well as fully remotely, depending on the task, wherever you happen to be.

Why work for Metratec?

Flat hierarchies and personal responsibility
The teams at Metratec work with a high degree of decision-making freedom. We are all equally responsible for our shared success – regardless of position in the company.

Innovative and strong in research
We are a curious company and encourage creativity in the search for innovative solutions – in product development with companies and research projects with university partners. Our team of experienced experts and career starters offers an exciting mix of different perspectives.

Open and Individual
We build on the individual talents of our employees. At Metratec, everyone is allowed to be who they are. We value the competition of good ideas and see the dialog about different perspectives as an opportunity always to get a little better.

Stability and Dynamics
Metratec has been established on the market for more than 18 years and works for clients from all over the world. We combine this expertise with the dynamics of new developments in IoT and Industry 4.0.

What we offer

Flexible Work Hours

Our employees can adapt work to their respective life situations, for example through part-time or home office arrangements and, if the tasks allow, “fully remote”.

Personal Development

We support you in developing yourself according to your own goals – for example, by offering further education or internal training.

DIY Espresso

… and of course we have the best espresso in Magdeburg, which we roast ourselves.

Our Technology Stack

Just like we are open and transparent as people, we like our technology stack to be just as open. To give you an idea of what languages and frameworks we use, here are some of the projects we like:

Although old, we still use C as the main programming language in our projects when it comes to embedded projects.

Almost all our new embedded products that only have an ARM M0 or M3 use the Zephyr RTOS as the operating system.

For more powerful systems, like our advanced RFID readers, we use our own embedded Linux distribution called “Metropolis” built with Yocto.

For our daily work, we rely on Linux as a secure and flexible operating system with only a few exceptions (where customers or supplier tools require another desktop OS).
